Brivo Reseller Dashboard

This project focused on the Brivo Reseller Portal, aiming to understand why users weren’t engaging with the previous dashboard. Through user research and testing, we identified key pain points and opportunities for improvement. Limited to redesigning only the left side of the main container, we worked around existing constraints to enhance usability, ultimately increasing dashboard interactions from hundreds to thousands of users.

Discovery

In the discovery phase, we sent out surveys to resellers using our Partner Portal to understand their main tasks, the information they need to access and act on quickly, and whether a dashboard could support their needs. The responses revealed key trends, highlighting the importance of viewing panel statuses, tracking pricing changes, and monitoring device counts. Based on these insights, we created a low-fidelity wireframe featuring the identified information and shared it with resellers to validate its usefulness, ensuring the design aligned with their priorities.

Ideation

In the ideation stage, we took the feedback from the low-fidelity wireframes and conducted workshops with both resellers and internal stakeholders. These sessions helped us dig deeper into user needs, refine key features, and align on priorities. Through collaborative brainstorming and iterative sketching, we translated these insights into a high-fidelity prototype that addressed the identified pain points and provided a more intuitive, efficient dashboard experience.

User Testing

In the testing phase, we took the high fidelity prototype to users and evaluated each chart and information section by having users rate its usefulness to their daily work and the ease with which they could understand the information. This feedback helped us identify which elements provided the most value, allowing us to refine the design for clarity, relevance, and overall effectiveness.

Iterate

Based on the testing feedback and results, we iterated on the design to improve clarity and relevance. We then presented the updated high-fidelity prototype to internal stakeholders and our key reseller partner board. Their feedback provided valuable validation, confirming that the redesigned dashboard effectively met user needs and aligned with business goals.

Results

  1. Increased dashboard usage from approximately 200 users to nearly 4,000, demonstrating significant growth in engagement.

  2. Achieved a notable rise in report downloads, indicating that users found the dashboard data more actionable and valuable.

  3. Improved information clarity and usefulness, with users rating the dashboard an average of 4.3 out of 5.
